Initiatives of the Institute
I. THE POPE JOHN XXIII AGGIORNAMENTO ASSOCIATION
Members of the Association are committed to and passionate about being Trinity Centered and Driven by the Mission of Jesus. They wholeheartedly support the Vision of the Institute and actively participate through the sharing of their Time, Talent and Treasure.
Developing “partners” in the Mission and Vision of the Institute and not mere donors is our goal for the Association.
We will challenge our Associates to be active participants in Aggiornamento, which first must take place in the individual’s own personal life.

II. DOMESTIC CHURCH PARADIGM
We seek to replace the current parish structure, which is mainly focused on maintaining individual parishioners spirituality with a family grounded paradigm that is Trinity Centered and Driven by the Mission of Jesus: to proclaim the Kingdom of Heaven and make disciples of people of all nations.
Our approach is to work from the future backwards, instead working from the past into the future. The family has been described by the Second Vatican Council, as the “Domestic Church”, and it is from this starting point, that we begin.
We will be following Lewin’s Model for Change, and this theory allows for “managing” change. We already foresee the need to thoroughly explain this Model, to help the parishioner’s transition from a traditional parish structure to the Domestic Church Paradigm. The implementation phase follows, Lewin’s three stages: Unfreeze, Change, and Re-Freeze.

III. HOLY FAMILY ACADEMY
We are passionate about making the family the main classroom for Discipleship Training, following a three step plan of: Information, Formation and Transformation.
The current focus of catechetical instruction in the United States is towards children and the reception of their Sacraments. Developing Domestic Churches, in which each member is an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ and his Church, is our primary goal and end. There are Four Divisions within the Academy: Holy Innocence from Birth to 5th grade, Holy Trinity from 6-8th grade, Holy Spirit from 9-12th grade and Holy Name, for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.
Many students and parents see the reception of the Sacraments as “graduation rites”. This mentality re-enforces a maintenance model of Church and allows for a disconnect with the parish community. Sacraments are not to be seen as ends in themselves but means to being Trinity Centered and driven by the Mission of Jesus. Each Domestic Church will be challenged to go above and beyond the norm of being a good family, to being a great and holy family.
Parents are the natural leaders in a family; this does not mean that children do not have an important role to play in leading the family towards a deeper commitment to their faith and community. Children in this paradigm will take an active role in their own instruction and that of their parents. During the formal sessions, the students will learn HOW to SHARE their faith with parents/guardians the Discipleship lesson.

IV. POPE JOHN XXIII LEADERSHIP SCHOOL
Through instruction and mentoring we will provide the necessary skills and competencies needed for the pastor and their staffs to understand and lead the Domestic Church Paradigm.
From the beginning of the implementation phase, the pastor and the staff will know the Core Competencies they will need to successfully lead this new model of being Church.
The effort needed for developing and sustaining a great parish depends on the staff working together to implement the Domestic Church Paradigm, in a balanced and systematic manner, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Without this approach, the parish will not reach its full potential, it may become good but not great. Excellence honors God and inspires people.

V. THE SHEPHERDS OF THE GOSPEL VIRTUAL FRATERNITY
This is a virtual Fraternity, passionate about the ongoing development of Bishops and priests in the four areas of formation; Human, Spiritual, Intellectual and Pastoral in the spirit of Pope John XXIII call to Aggiornamento.
Before we can bring about an Aggiornamento in a Diocese and/or parish, the Bishop and pastors must first experience it within themselves. This fraternity will be an important first step in implementing the Domestic Church Paradigm, with Bishops and priests.
Often, the ongoing formation of Bishops and priests takes the back seat to the pressing issues of the day. The fraternity seeks to break the habit of just maintaining one’s life, to living it fully in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ.
